What should I bring and wear?
Sun screen, sun
glasses, a hat that will not blow off your head or has a chin-strap, soft
non-marking shoes. Dress warm during winter months! Drinks and snacks, especially
if you are bringing children. If you plan to take fish home, bring a cooler and
leave it in the car. I have coolers built into the boat for fish and drinks.
Your balance is due at departure. Sorry, we take only Checks, Cash, or
Travelers checks, we do not take any credit cards.
What I should not bring:
Large coolers, blankets and beach towels, too
much food and drink as in a picnic with all the trimmings, or we will not have
room for the fish we catch. And..............
Don't Bring these Suckers!
Will we still go if the weather is bad?
If the water is too rough for safety we will
reschedule or cancel.
How far ahead do I need to make reservations?
As soon as you know when you will be here! Some
people book for the following year, and some the day before. Deposits for
single trips are refundable if I am notified 48 hours prior to departure date
and am able to rebook your space. We will be pleased to reschedule your outing!
You must consider your window of time and whether it is a Holiday or the busy
season. A $100.00 deposit is required to guarantee your reservation.
Is it better to fish morning, noon or night?
That's hard to say because sometimes fishing is better in the AM, and sometimes in the PM. It really depends on what time you like to get up in the morning.
Where to stay?
We recommend The Westin Innisbrook Golf restort on US 19,
36750 US 19
N, Palm Harbor, FL 34684, (727)
939-3873 (MAP). We are just a short drive from
the hotel. There are several other hotels in the area to choose from. We will
be glad to help you find suitable accommodations.
Departure Times?
The morning trips normally depart around 7:00 or 8:00 AM and the afternoon trips in the summer time usually depart around 1:00 PM. If you have the boat reserved for your party we can adjust the departure times to suit your desires.
Can I bring my own tackle?
Yes! If you are not
sure you would like to bring it, here is a rule of thumb you can use. If you
are skilled enough to tie your own rigs, and your line, rod, and reel are in
good condition you may enjoy using your own gear. If you are a novice and not
skilled in tying knots and not familiar with your tackle, you would probably
find it easier to use ours. If you do bring your rod, please don't bring a big
tackle box. I have all the terminal tackle and lures you will need.
I have never been fishing:
Over half of our customers fall in to that
category! Guide boats are the best place for a beginner to learn how to fish.
It is a hands-on fishing trip with personal instruction. My objective is not to
fish for you but to teach you how to catch your own fish.
What will I catch?
Fishing on a Charter boat like ours gives you
the opportunity to fish all species on both near-shore and offshore waters. We
carry different sets of tackle and various baits to accomplish this with. This
coast of Florida has a large variety of fish and most are here year round,
except the Kingfish which run along the coast in March - April, Evening Shark
trips are great fun in June-July-August, Tarpon start showing up in April, May
and June, then October
-November. Grouper, Snapper, Sea Bass, Grunts, and Mackerel are common offshore
catches. Near shore you can expect Trout, Redfish, Snook, ladyfish, and Jacks!
